Aqueous Film Forming Foam Concentrate (AFFF) is a firefighting foam that is commonly used to extinguish Class B fires involving flammable and combustible liquids, including gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel. It is a mixture of synthetic surfactants, solvents, and water that forms a foam blanket on the surface of the fuel, separating it from the air and preventing it from reigniting. AFFF can also be effective against Class A fires involving ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, and cloth.
