Types Of Fire Nozzles

1. Straight Bore Nozzles

Straight bore nozzles, also known as smooth bore nozzles, are simple nozzles that have a single, straight opening. They are most effective at delivering a solid, high-pressure stream of water to quickly extinguish fires. These nozzles are commonly used in structural firefighting, where the goal is to get as much water into the fire as quickly as possible.

2. Fog Nozzles

Fog nozzles, also called spray nozzles, produce a fine mist of water droplets that can effectively cool down a fire and limit its spread. They are commonly used in situations where water conservation is a concern, such as wildfires. Fog nozzles can also create a barrier between the firefighters and the flames, protecting them from the heat and reducing the risk of injury.

3. Combination Nozzles

Combination nozzles are versatile nozzles that can switch between straight bore and fog patterns, providing firefighters with both high-pressure and low-pressure options. These nozzles are ideal for situations where the fire is rapidly changing or when firefighters need to adjust the water flow to suit their needs.

4. Selectable Gallonage Nozzles

Selectable gallonage nozzles, also known as adjustable gallonage nozzles, allow firefighters to adjust the flow rate of water from the nozzle. This is useful in situations where water conservation is a concern or when the fire is not too large and only a small amount of water is needed.

5. Piercing Nozzles

Piercing nozzles are special nozzles that can penetrate through solid materials such as walls, ceilings, and floors to reach a fire. They are commonly used in situations where firefighters need to access hard-to-reach areas of a building without causing too much damage.
