Overview
Foam Proportioning Tank is a fixed fire protection device that automatically mixes foam concentrate with fire water at a preset ratio (3% or 6%) to form foam solution for Class B flammable liquid fire fighting.
The most common type is the bladder type foam proportioning tank (PHYM/PHYML series, also named foam bladder tank). It is built with a steel pressure vessel and an internal flexible rubber bladder. Foam concentrate is sealed inside the bladder, and pressurized water fills the annular space between the bladder and tank shell. When the fire system activates, pressurized water squeezes the rubber bladder, pushing foam concentrate out to the proportioner. The proportioner blends foam liquid and water at the designed mixing percentage. No extra power source is needed; it runs purely by water pressure.
Note: Foam proportioning tank is a general term. Foam bladder tank is one category of foam proportioning tank. Other types include balanced pressure proportioner and orifice plate proportioner, but bladder type is the most widely used for tank farm and oil depot projects.

Q: What is the difference between foam proportioning tank and foam bladder tank?
Foam proportioning tank is the general category.
Foam bladder tank is one specific bladder-type foam proportioning tank. Other types include balanced pressure proportioners and orifice plate proportioners.
In most fire projects, foam proportioning tank usually refers to bladder type foam bladder tank.
Q: What mixing ratios are available?
Standard mixing ratios are 3% and 6%. It must match your selected foam concentrate (AFFF, AR-AFFF, protein, fluoroprotein foam). We cannot change the ratio randomly after manufacturing.
Q: What are the available tank capacities?
Common sizes: 500L, 1000L, 1500L, 2000L, 3000L, 4000L, 5000L, up to 10,000L. Vertical and horizontal designs are optional. Custom capacity is acceptable for OEM orders.
Q: What material is the tank shell and bladder?
Tank shell: Carbon steel (Q235B) as standard; stainless steel 304/316 optional for corrosive environments.
Rubber bladder: NBR (nitrile rubber) standard; EPDM optional.
The bladder is a consumable spare part and can be replaced separately.
