How To Refill Foam Bladder Tank?

Foam bladder tanks are essential components in fire protection and suppression systems. They store foam concentrate and pressurized air within a bladder to provide quick and effective firefighting solutions. When the foam concentrate in a foam bladder tank gets depleted, it's crucial to refill the tank promptly to ensure continued fire protection. Here are the steps to refill foam bladder tank safely and efficiently:

1. Shut off the water supply: Before refilling your foam bladder tank, turn off the water supply to avoid any accidental water damage.

2. Relieve The Pressure: Once the water supply is turned off, relieve the pressure in the tank by opening the air vent valve.

3. Access the Tank: Locate the access port of the foam bladder tank and remove the cover.

4. Drain the Old Foam Concentrate: Before refilling the tank with new foam concentrate, drain the old concentrate by opening the drain valve. It's critical to dispose of the old foam concentrate in compliance with local regulations.

5. Refill the Tank: After draining the old foam concentrate, refill the tank with new concentrate. Make sure the concentrate level does not exceed the fill line marked inside the bladder tank. In case it goes above this line, the excess foam concentrate should be drained.

6. Inspect the Bladder: Check the bladder for any damage or visible defects. In case you find any punctures or abrasions, replace the bladder before using the tank.

7. Reassemble the Tank: Replace the access port cover and make sure it is securely tightened to avoid any leakage.

8. Restart the System: Turn on the water supply and confirm the foam bladder tank is functioning correctly. Observe the pressure gauge to ensure the tank is maintaining the required pressure.
