How to use afff foam
Using AFFF (Aqueous Film-Forming Foam) foam involves several key steps to ensure effective fire suppression. Firstly, it's crucial to select the appropriate AFFF foam concentrate based on the type of fire and fuel involved. For instance, AFFF foam is particularly effective in extinguishing oil and liquid fires.
Secondly, the foam concentrate must be diluted with water according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically in a ratio of 1 part foam to 9 or 10 parts water. Ensuring thorough mixing of the concentrate and water is essential for optimal foam quality and performance.
During application, the foam should be evenly sprayed over the fire source from a safe distance, maintaining an appropriate distance to avoid direct contact with the flames. It's important to create a continuous foam blanket that covers the fuel surface, excluding oxygen and cooling the fuel to extinguish the fire.
