What is Foam Equipment Basics

Foam Products is a very important part of any manufacturing process. From injection molding to dry molding, there are many different products that fall under this industry. "North American manufacturer of EPS/ EPE/ EPP foam insulation and molding equipment. Providing low-cost wet foam insulation and dry foam insulation and re-manufacturing foam insulation products. Offering top quality products, guaranteed."

A major portion of foam insulation comes from EPS or spray foam insulation, which is essentially insulation made out of tiny bubbles. There are two main types of EPS available: spray-quip and gun-quip. Many times, these guns will be interchangeable between different vendors and are not necessary to purchase spray foam insulation, if you already have an appropriate gun.

Most often, manufacturers will sell a spray-finisher or proportioner along with their gun-quip. The difference between the gun-finish and the proportion is the strength of the foam. The gun-finish contains higher amounts of glue and does not contain the smallest amount of bubbles; however, it is typically weaker than the proportioner. The proportion contains smaller bubbles and is more cost effective because it has less glue. This is what allows it to be used in conjunction with a spray foam application machine. The guns are intended to be used by spraying the foam directly onto the surface that needs coating, although this is not always necessary.

If you are using either the gun-finish or the proportion, then there are additional steps that you will need to take. First, you will need to select the right type of nozzle for your spray gun. Some machines spray by air pressure while others utilize a high-powered fan spray. If you are using a proportioner, then the nozzle will regulate the flow of the foam and direct it onto the surface that needs coating. If the surface that you are spraying is larger, like a wall, then you will want to make sure that you use a high-powered gun nozzle so that the foam is able to cover a larger area. These high-powered nozzles will be more expensive but tend to produce a more even coating.

Another important part of foam equipment is heated hoses. These heated hoses allow you to place the foam under a variety of different conditions. For example, you can heat the hose to above boiling temperature so that hot water will be pulled through the hose and applied directly to the foam insulation, or you can use a pre-heated hose to apply insulation to a surface without heating it up.

Foam equipment also includes a variety of different types of proportions. The most common types of proportioners are either a small tube or a large cylindrical tube. Both of these types of proportioner are powered by either gas or electricity. The tube proportioner has an open end at one end and a closed one at the other. This tube can be used in a variety of different applications including wrapping around a variety of different materials and sealing various parts of different types of materials. In addition, the cylindrical proportion is similar to a cylinder, but instead of an open end, the end has a valve.
