Fire safety is a noble cause pursued by all mankind and a symbol of civilization and progress. In order to alert and remind the public to pay attention to fire safety or commemorate fire heroes, many countries in the world have their own "Fire Fighting Day". Let's find out together below.

Poland, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Bavaria in Germany, as well as some areas in the United Kingdom and Italy all designate May 4 as Fire Day in their own country or region. On May 4, 184 AD, Florian, the military governor of ancient Rome, was sentenced to death by the authorities for spreading Christianity and sank to the bottom of the river. In 1184, Florian's remains were moved to a church in Krakow, Poland. On April 24, 1528, a catastrophic fire broke out in Krakow, Poland. Most of the city's buildings were destroyed, but the church where Florian's remains were kept intact. From then on, a myth began to circulate in the local area. People said that the saint appeared and participated in the fire-fighting, saving the church and some buildings in the city from the fire. In this way, from the second half of the 16th century, Florian's name gradually became a symbol of firefighting, and his portrait appeared on the flags and badges of the fire department. At the same time, the day of his death also became a firefighter's holiday.
